They say that everything happens for good. I dont know what to say on this. After a long fight put on to stay back there, I am back to the country and trust me I find myself changed.
I have not had very good experiences being back right from the onset. Mediocrity is the middle name of this country. Its weird and ridiculous.
Fogs cancel the flight and the miffed passengers take the crew to hostage. Few trains crash and the news channels cry foul if the Railways are blind in the fog. What shit ? The media thrives on this scum coverage of events.
This days there is a new activism going on in and around the media and the blogs. Justice for Ruchika. Did any of us know about the case all this decade and half ? Where was the media then and all this while ? There have been so many incidents like Ruchika in last decade. What happened ? Any body got convicted?
One alive terrorist is mocking the entire country and we the taxpayers are slogging out to enable the government to keep him alive only to see later getting escaped or a repeat of IC-814 hijack (does anybody remember this at the onset of 2000?)
My point is what is this all going to achieve ? Nothing unless system changes and nothing until the people who make the system change want to change. One failed terrorist attack in Detroit bound plane on Christmas day and entire system of airline security in US is revamped. Its not even 10 days since then. Everybody is held accountable at some level up there. Whats here ? A 86 year old governor is caught LIVE making up and then cries foul over controversy. High ideals anyone ?
When you are back, you lose all your independence. We in this country have to fake independence by posing ourselves as pro-women or pro-men. Back there, all this doesnt matter. Every body respects the other person's independence and privacy. Be it a white American or an African American or a Confused Desi or even a rogue Makkhu (Mexican) who cleans the snow. There the daily life goes on in snow, blizzards and storms. Right here at 5 degrees everything shuts down. Loss of productivity anyone ?
We keep crying foul on anything American on the name of our rich culture and "sanskaar". And clinging to those values which matter hardly in the 2010 make us feel safe that nothing is going to affect us. Wow. What a country. Everything has to be full of emotions here. Sentiments rule large. Politics in everything. Dragging the feet back. Clipping the wings of those who want to progress well is the story of this country. And thats the difference between India and America. And thats difference is never going to be bridged.
We are a coward society. We are feudal and medivel mindset people.
This a typical pro American post from a person who has just tasted what the flavor of america is and is miffed to find mediocricy(ty) here.
Eggs and tomatoes anyone for me ? The only pre-condition is they should be hybrid.
2010, a year of change for me. Riddances from the past patterns and mighty steps to the life I want to live. Cos its now or never. I chose NOW.

Its been a long time that i didnt read you but this post of yours is actually made an impact...!!
We are actually living in a country where the laws are not revised from years...where bills are pending in the parliament since decades...where it is important about the position of themselves but not about the development of the country as a whole...where people who cant even walk by themselves lead the country of young blood...where you need bribe the ward boy to help your wife's delivery well...where people who talk about values dont know them either....people who complain abut others and never care about what they are wrong in....where people are at fault but always blame others for everything...and blah blah blah..!!!
I think everyone needs to understand that it is important to think atleast noe...as you said "NOW OR NEVER"...Better act NOW else we can NEVER live it..!!!

Sameer who is going to get the change.We all just talk write and discuss and criticise. But as fellow citizens have we actually done anything to get what we want to. It wont happen now or in some years. but we all have to make a concious effort to take out this so called mediocrity but none of us are doing anything.
I have not been out of this country in my life so I really cant say what they are but I just want to say that as young people we have to make this place a more better place to live in.We are just busy in our lives.
P.S- my comment was not hurt you or go against your post but offlate everyone seems to be talking the same thing.

I remember a friend telling me once that once she had visited a family friend who happens to be in army. and he was telling her that he has been posted to almost all the places he now wishes to be in north east. so she asked him why do you want to go there.its so risky and underdeveloped to which he replied that it so that;s also a part of our own country and we cant discriminate like this.
