Almost........

This days being in Satyam is like an insult to the self-respect....Employees like me and you suffer when the top brass makes merry on cost of poor employee. God knows how much truth lies in the news of employees not receiving salary for 2 months....If true then shocking......Love of land did him in and now the law of land gets mr Raju in....

Cut to Sep 2007, i was looking for change in job for umpteenth time...I had 3 offers -- IBM, Infy and Satyam....IBm was ruled out for the horrible pay....Infy was putting me to horrible DCs and Satyam was damn favorite....Relocation to Blore and that was good enough for me to go for it....But i was waiting for the offer letter to come and of course the money (fraud one or real one dunno) they were offering....5 weeks and nothing arrived. Spoke to 5 or 6 HRs across Hyd, Pune and Blore but no updates on offer letter, money and job role...Everytime a new HR and same story to tell with false promises for quicker resolution.....

around 50 emails exchanged, no replies and finally pissed off....Gave up on job change untill i got a call from Infy HR that there is an opening in Pune DC and i can join Infy. Without any delay I accepted  the offer, resigned from old company and shot a strong mail to Satyam HRs......They made mockery of me and my candidature. ....Fooled me for 2 months........And today when i stand and look back, i am proud of my decision to walk over the offer from them and be in a place which is higher on morality and ethical practises. 

And this was what I wrote :

"Hi XXXX

 

Thanks for the mail. Regret to tell you that I am unable to accept the offer if and whenever its rolled.  The major reason for the same being the horrible experience i am getting since last few weeks when its coming down to roll out the offer.  This puts a deep doubt in my mind about the kind of work or the association with Satyam would be. 

 

Its time I call it quits owing to the language been offered to me from different HR associates and the kind of false commitments bestowed to me.  I even went to the extent of resigning from my company on verbal confirmation from SG last week only to find out that there were still some doubts and "processes" to follow to roll out the offer. And last Friday was my worst day in dealing with the HR associates of your esteemed organization and since the day I have been revisiting the prospects of whether to join or not and for that the offer had to be rolled out. When there is so much delay and lack of transparency, then probably I should not accept the offer, which is yet to be rolled out.

 

I never knew what the problem was with my offer and why it was being kept delayed. I was pulled in for the interview so soon, and then nothing went right.  Delays, put ons for the next week, change of HR,  language being used to solve the queries were enough deterrents for me to turn down the offer, but I kept the hope, but this is it.

 

Besides there has been no hike whatsoever from my current salary in the company i work for.  At least 1 or 2% hike is some one expects if not 10 or 20% which is the market standard.  And since there are no onsite opportunities, I find it tough to associate with Satyam.

 

On the concluding note, I know loss of one candidate wont make much loss or sense to Satyam, but this kind of happenings which I was unfortunately part of take, dont sound too good.

 

It was nice enough to be considered good for the interview with Satyam, but probably not good enough to be rolled out with the offer.  And that was heartbreaking.  Just would like to give one feedback : never harass the candidate with false commitments and false hopes.  Perhaps this mail would bring a lot of relief that no more status calls would be made from my end. 

 

I know the offer would never have come to me, but you all have got no right to ask me to resign from my company to join you when you even have not bothered to roll out offer or send written resolution of the queries"

Expectedly, there was no reply from either of the 7 HR folks.....

This was one decision I am very proud of. I feel for those fellow IT pros who are stuck there and have no clue about where they are heading to. I pray that some divine intervention helps them all secure their job either within or outside Satyam.  Worst part of this fraud is it happened in recession times which makes it even difficult for people to find good jobs!!
